Does Astuzo just give my child the answers?
No. That’s the whole point. Spark, the tutor, is built to give hints and ask guiding questions, one step at a time, so your child does the thinking. When your child gives an answer, Spark checks it and says whether it’s right. If it isn’t, Spark helps them find the mistake instead of fixing it for them.
Which grades and subjects does Astuzo cover?
Astuzo starts with math for Grades 3 to 6, aligned to the Ontario math curriculum (2020). More grades and subjects, other provinces, and French are planned after launch.
Is Astuzo aligned with the Ontario curriculum?
Yes. Astuzo is built around the expectations in The Ontario Curriculum, Grades 1–8: Mathematics (2020) for Grades 3 to 6, and Spark pitches hints at your child’s grade. Astuzo is an independent product and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Ontario Ministry of Education.
Can Astuzo help my child prepare for EQAO?
Astuzo helps with everyday math homework, which builds the same skills the Grade 3 and Grade 6 EQAO math assessments look at. It is not an official EQAO product or practice test, and it is not affiliated with EQAO. For official information and sample materials, visit eqao.com.
Can it check a whole worksheet?
Yes. Your child can snap a single question or a whole sheet, including drills like a page of times tables. Spark checks every answer, then helps with the ones that need another look.
My child doesn’t like typing. Can they talk to Spark?
Yes. Kids can talk instead of type, and Spark can read questions and hints aloud. That helps younger kids and anyone who finds reading long word problems tiring.
What if Spark gets something wrong?
Like any tutor, AI can make mistakes. Astuzo double-checks its math before telling your child an answer is right, and the parent report shows you what was worked on, so you can spot anything that looks off. If something seems wrong, tell us at support@astuzo.ca.
Getting started
Can I download Astuzo now?
Not yet. Astuzo is in a small pilot and is coming soon to iPhone and Android. Join the waitlist and we’ll email you when it’s ready.
What devices will it work on?
Astuzo is a mobile app for iPhone and Android phones and tablets, because homework is on paper and the camera is the easiest way in. A family iPad or a parent’s phone works well. There is no web app.
Does my child need their own account or password?
No. You, the parent, own the account. Each child gets a simple profile with their name and grade, with no email and no password. You can add more than one child to your account.
What’s in the parent report?
After every session you get a short report by email (and in the parent area of the app): what your child worked on, where they needed hints, and how it went. It’s the easiest way to stay in the loop without hovering.
Is Astuzo available in French?
Not yet. Astuzo launches in English for Ontario. French (starting with French Immersion homework help) is on the roadmap.
Pricing
How much will Astuzo cost?
At launch, Astuzo will cost $12.99 a month or $99.99 a year (about $8.33 a month), in Canadian dollars, with a 7-day free trial through the App Store or Google Play. Prices are confirmed when the app launches.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Subscriptions are handled by the App Store or Google Play, so you cancel in your phone’s subscription settings, the same way as any other app. Cancel before the free trial ends and you won’t be charged.
I have more than one child. How does pricing work?
One parent account can hold several child profiles. We’ll confirm exactly how plans work for families with more than one child before launch, and waitlist families will hear first.
Privacy and safety
What happens to the photos of my child’s homework?
Photos are processed to read the homework and are never stored. The text of each session (the problems and the conversation) is kept for 90 days so you can see the reports, then deleted automatically.
Is Astuzo safe for my child?
Safety filters check every message, and Spark sticks to schoolwork. Your child only talks to Spark: there’s no chat with other people, no public profiles, and no ads. You see every session in the parent report.
Do you sell my family’s data or show ads?
No. Astuzo has no ads and we don’t sell personal information. Our servers are currently in the European Union (a move to Canada is planned), and some processing (the AI tutor, safety checks, voice and read-aloud) is done by service providers in the United States. Our privacy policy lists each one and what it keeps.
How do I delete our account and data?
You can delete your account from the parent area of the app, or email support@astuzo.ca. Deleting the account deletes your children’s profiles and session history.
